How the Family Plan Works
Smart Pool AI links to your Pentair IntelliCenter account. Because IntelliCenter supports multiple user accounts for the same pool installation, each family member can have their own IntelliCenter login — and their own Smart Pool AI access that connects to the same pool.
This means:
- Each person has their own Smart Pool AI app on their own phone
- Each person can control the pool independently
- Scenes and schedules are shared — if one person creates a "Movie Night" scene, everyone can use it
- Any Alexa device in the house can be used by anyone for voice control
Step-by-Step: Adding a Family Member
The process starts in the Pentair IntelliCenter web portal, where you add a new user to your installation. Then they download Smart Pool AI and sign in with their new credentials.

Open the IntelliCenter Web Portal
Go to screenlogicprotocol.pentair.com and log in with your account. This is the same login you use with Smart Pool AI.

Navigate to Users & Accounts
In the portal settings, find the "Users" or "Account Management" section. This is where you manage who has access to your pool installation.

Add a New User
Click "Add User" and enter the family member's email address. They'll receive an invitation email from Pentair to create their account with their own password.

They Download Smart Pool AI
Once they've created their Pentair account, they download Smart Pool AI from the App Store (or enable the Alexa skill) and sign in with their own credentials. Smart Pool AI automatically connects to your shared pool installation.

Done — Everyone's Connected
Each family member now has their own full Smart Pool AI access. Their scenes, preferences, and activity are tracked separately, but they're all controlling the same pool.

Any Echo device in your home can be used for pool voice control by any family member. If someone's Alexa account is linked to Smart Pool, they can say "Alexa, turn on the spa" from any Echo in the house — no phone needed at all.
Kids and the Pool
A lot of Smart Pool AI families use this to give their teenagers some independence with the pool — they can turn the lights on for an evening swim or check the pool temperature without having to come find a parent. It's a small thing, but it makes the pool feel more accessible to everyone.
💡 Expert Pool Tip
Teach your kids what the light color means. Set a family convention — blue lights mean the pool is ready for swimming, red means it's not safe (chemicals recently added, equipment issue, etc.). It's a simple visual system that everyone in the household can understand at a glance, especially useful for younger children.
